* Values indicated for pressure in the table above are computed for soft tubes with safety factor N=5. Values indicated for allowable pressure relate only to tubes, not to their joints.

Weight and maximum allowable working pressure of fluids are computed using the following equations for each copper tube size:

For weight:

For pressure:

Q = (D - S) x S x π x γ, gr/m

P = 200 Rm S / DN, bara

where: where:
D - outer diameter, mm 200 - conversion constant
S - wall thickness, mm Rm - tensile strength, N/mm²
γ - specific weight of copper, 8.94 kg/dm³ S - wall thickness, mm
π - 3,14 D - outer diameter, mm
  N - safety factor (5)

    ::  Plastic coated copper tubes - sizes, weight and allowable pressures:

    For more aggressive environments, copper tube with a PVC sheath may be an effective method of protection against attack.
    The PVC is tightly extruded onto the tube and is available in black and white colors with blue or red print according to customer requirements. Available in Imperial and Metric dimensions.
